Ontario Northland receives praise for its courteous and punctual drivers, as well as the comfort of their buses. However, some users have reported challenges with communication during transfers and storms. Additionally, there were instances where office staff weren't helpful in providing guidance or information about bus statuses.
I took a trip from Toronto to Sudbury on the Ontario Northland after a very large snowstorm over the weekend of February 16. I was a little nervous because I walk with a cane and I was travelling alone. The bus driver was very kind helped me up the stairs and with my bags And put everyone at ease with several jokes about his driving. He got us to Sudbury in good time being very careful of the road conditions. He put us all at ease. It was a very good trip. I would recommend using Ontario Northland!

I found the transfer to another bus to get to Pearson very difficult and frustrating. Driver told me I had to get off but had no idea where I should go. No staff to ask. I eventually asked a subway staff who said to catch bus 40. First bus 40 said he was going another direction and to wait at stop 12. Eventually I found a sign at stop 11. No clear instructions.

Timeliness was good but would have preferred a different place for stoppover in Parry Sound. Open restaurant is too far from bus. Suggest stopping at McDonalds since Harvey's was closed. Bus seats are not great.

To board the bus, you must provide an Ontario Northland reference number and photo identification matching the information provided during booking. Presenting a physical or electronic ticket is optional.
All Ontario Northland tickets are refundable up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure time. Simply log into your Busbud account and cancel the ticket and you will receive an 85% refund directly on the card or PayPal account used to book the ticket.
You can exchange your ticket directly at the station before your original departure time. Alterations to the original itinerary are subject to a 15% fee.
You are allowed 1 checked bag up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and 1 carry-on weighing no more than 7 kg (15 lbs). Ontario Northland will check 2 additional pieces of baggage at $15 each.
Ontario Northland accepts bicycles with an additional fee of $20 +tx per trip. Bicycles will need to be packed in a bike box. Bike boxes are available for purchase, at an additional cost of $25 + tx at selected stations. Please call 1-800-461-8558 to confirm bike box availability.
