We took the bus atamaca to Uyuni as this is the only bus company that does the route. However I will never use this company again. I strongly recommend using an alternative perhaps the Denomades direct shuttle service between Uyuni and SPdA, or multi day salt flat tour which picks up or returns to Uyuni/SpdA.
We arrived at the bus stop at 03:30am the bus driver appeared and told us the bus was broken and we could sit on the bus until 7/8am. The bus was FREEZING. 1 degree temperatures and the door was open for safety. The bus was disgusting, rubbish everywhere, unclean, it smelt of wee. It was a horrendous 5 hours until the sun came up and warmed us up. There was NO apology. This is unacceptable and inhumane!!!
The bus company would have known the battery was dead the night before, he could have made a WhatsApp group with the 7 people on the bus and told us not to arrive until 8am. We eventually left at 11:30am. The journey was smooth despite being on a filthy bus. However no AC.

Absolute terrible 😫. I didn't reach Uyuni. The bus is still waiting on the border of Chile-Bolivia. Worst trip ever.

It was awful. We booked a week in advance only to get a WhatsApp 7hours before the bus departure saying the bus was not leaving San Pedro but instead Calama. This left us with no option but to pay 100,000 Chilean pesos for a taxi. Not good enough!

Avoid at all costs. The "bus" which was just a car with no proof of ID arrived in Atacama 45 mins late. We had to do 4 buses in total, with the border crossing taking 3 hours as we had to wait for the next minibus, which then did not have enough seats on it, so people were sat on top of each other. The final minibus then broke down by running out of fuel.
