CATA Internacional Mendoza Santiago recent customer reviews
I’d read quite a few bad reviews of CATA but we really enjoyed our journey from Mendoza - Santiago. The seats were comfortable and clean, the bus was modern and ran on time and the staff were really helpful. Especially at the border where we needed to go through immigration.

The delay at the Chile border crossing is ridiculous. Four hours. And the Santiago bus terminal is terrible.

The journey itself was incredible. We had booked the XL seats in January 2025, and they were incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was clean, although there was no toilet paper. The bus was spotless, and the driver was incredibly friendly. However, the bus only stops at the border, so there are no pit stops along the way. The only downside to the experience was when we arrived in Chile. The man unloading the luggage refused to give us our luggage without first receiving a tip. So, it’s something to be aware of.
Passengers consistently praised the bus service for its comfortable and clean seating, with many noting the availability of power points for phone charging. The staff was described as professional, kind, and helpful during customs procedures. However, some travelers mentioned a lack of English instructions and missing promised amenities like WiFi or snacks.

Professional staff was very good and kind and helpful. Excellent driving, smooth and steady. However, it’s the first time I’ve been asked for money by the señores handling the luggage.

Some times the other persons that with can make the trip good or bad. But this everyone was very good. The two men operating the bus was great. Only one thing at the border nothing was mentioned what we needed to do. We knew we had to go through customs but what do we do with our carry one? Some of us left ours behind only for customs fellow bring them in.

Efficient service. Couldn’t understand the Spanish all the instructions were given in though. Some cards in English would help.

The journey never happened because of the closing of the border between Argentina and Chile due to snow

The time estimate for the journey was way off! We ended up spending 12 hours instead of 7 hours as they had stated.

Was expecting a bus with a toilet but it was just a van. Did not correspond with the description of what I booked.

Was very unsatisfied with my trip to Santiago. I booked the 8:32am bus and got to the station in plenty of time - I was then told my bus was at 9:00am with no prior warning. I didn't mind as it was only half an hour however we were then delayed over 5 and a half hours just past the chile border crossing. Whether this would have happened if I got the 8:32am bus I am not sure? I was also never told at any point what was going on and how long we would be waiting. Finally, and this goes for all buses in South America, the temperature of the buses is not healthy. They drop the temperature to below 20 degrees and then immidately increase it to 30 degrees. This change in body temperature caused me to get a fever in which I am still recovering.

The bus was cancelled and we were not informed beforehand. There were no more buses for at least 3 more days so we ended up stuck with no options.
