The problem was that the bus left 15 minutes early from Zagreb and I never got a notification - in fact, I received an email confirming the time. The staff at the bus station told me there was no bus scheduled to depart when my ticket said there was, but that there was one scheduled for 15 minutes earlier, which was actually my bus. So it is a good thing I was there early and that I asked around.
