The Edinburgh Bus Station (previously St Andrew Square Station) is the main bus station in Edinburgh, Scotland. If you're visiting the city, it's one of the best places to start your journey.

The station is in the heart of Edinburgh, on St Andrew Square, a busy, vibrant city area.

With an entrance at St Andrew's Square and another on Elder Street, the bus station serves as a terminus for bus services that cater to regional and long-distance destinations.

The station is open from 4.30 am to 12 am.

How to get to Edinburgh Bus Station 

Because the station is located in such a strategic place, there are quite a few buses and tram lines around the area. Once you arrive at the station, you'll find plenty of helpful staff and signs to guide you to your next destination.

If you're coming from the airport, you can take the tram directly to the station, as these are the first and final stops of Edinburgh's only tram line. Trams run every seven minutes, on average.

Taxis are also available. It might be a good idea to check if your hotel is near the station, as this is a busy area and there's a chance you'll reach your final destination within a short walk.

Edinburgh Waverley railway station is also within walking distance from the bus station.

It's worth saying that, around the station, you'll find plenty of restaurants and cafes that make up for the lack of options inside.

Left luggage at Edinburgh Coach Station

If you need to store any luggage while you're in Edinburgh, there is a left luggage service available at the bus station. There are plenty of lockers and you'll need have change to use them, so plan ahead. Prices start at £8 for smaller bags and go up to £12 for large items, for each 12 hours.

Travelers report prices for left luggage are lower at the bus station compared to the train station, so this might be the place to go if you're in town for a short time.
