I had a night bus booked from Lima to Chimbote, it was due to depart at 23:45. I arrive at the Javier Prado bus terminal (Cruz del Sur bus depot in Lima) at 22:30 to be told my bus has been cancelled. When asked why I wasn't notified they said they called twice but couldn't get through so figured they had done enough. I am traveling with an American number and have no service. NO OTHER EFFORT WAS MADE TO NOTIFY BY TEXT OR EMAIL, which are both accessible by wifi, I proceeded to explain to the lady at the terminal desk I was now stuck having checked out of my hotel and the next bus not departing until 08:00. She did kindly offer to let me sleep on a couch in their business office, but there was no acknowledgment of their fault and no effort to find a stranded passanger through no fault of there own adequate accommodation. I was told the 23:00 was full, yet at the last minute I was told one seat was available I bordered and counted at least 6 empty seats not including mine on the top deck, couldn't see below, however not after being frantically ushered on board, prior to which I wanted to confirm the storage of my backpack in the hold, which had I not been adamant about seeing placed in the hold would of been left with the baggage crew who were still trying to attach a luggage tag. The ground staff at Javier Prado were amazing in helping me out of rhis jam and it was certainly not their fault, but I find it shocking that at a corporate level they find 2 phone calls sufficent out reach to notify a passanger of service cancellation, particularly the last departure of the day. Also the glaring disparity between the actual availability and that shown on their system shows that the IT infrastructure they are using is clearly not up to par.
Over all sloppy and haphazard at the corporate level, I would of expected significantly more from a self professed 'luxury' coach line. I wonder if in lieu of this feedback any further outreach will be made by their corporate customer service team, though I doubt it.
